Thanks for visiting my Diet Life blog. On this website I share dieting and weight management tips with you.  By the way, this sharing will force me to stick to my routine.

 

I am over 40 years old and determined to keep my weight under control.  I have always been able to wear a size small.  However, my clothes do get a little snug sometimes which is a reminder to walk more and watch what I’m eating.

 

I Live On A Diet

 

People often always ask me how I keep my weight under control. I must admit, I live on a diet and I always have. In a nutshell, I really watch what I eat.  Because of calories, I rarely drink soda and I rarely drink alcohol.  I drink water instead.  Also, I rarely eat chips.

 

I try to avoid sweets and keep my meal portions small. When I do eat sweets, which is rare, I make certain to keep those portions small too. I don’t have a slice of cake or a slice of pie. I have what I call a “sliver” of cake or a “sliver” of pie.

 

Fortunately, because I have eaten this way for so long, I don’t feel like I’m depriving myself; and I don’t feel like I am on a life long diet.

Eating on the Weekends

 

On the weekends, I give myself the freedom to eat whatever I want.  However, I still rarely drink alcohol.  Also, when I go to a restaurant, I only allow myself to eat half of what is on my plate.  If I have a burger, which I love, I will try to eat only half of the bread.

 

I also love enchiladas.  When I eat enchiladas, I primarily eat the inside.  I will only take a few bites of the tortilla.

 

Sweets and Portion Sizes

 

If I have a big lunch on the weekends, I will only have oatmeal or some type of cereal for dinner.

 

Starting the Day

 

I start every morning with a huge glass of water with lemon, apple cider vinegar, or aloe vera juice. Sometimes I’ll have a huge glass of green tea in the morning.  And I always have coffee.  I cannot skip that.

Exercise

 

I exercise every single day.  I do leg lifts and other stand in place exercises, I purposely walk up and down the stairs at home several times a day, or I go out for a walk.

 

During the week, my goal is to reach a minimum of 5,000 steps per day. On the weekends, my goal is to have at least 7,000 steps per day.  I don’t always reach my goal but having this goal makes me want to move as much as possible.  I’ve actually fallen in love with housework.

 

I make walking fun. I go to shopping malls.  I walk around shopping malls because that is fun to me and does not feel like exercise.  But, I have to be careful.  The urge to shop can be very tempting.

 

I wear a fitness tracker.  It motivates me to stay on track with my goal to reach 5,000 to 7,000 steps per day.
